Sean, what I ordered from Timberland was ‘Burnished Tan.’ At first I thought that they had messed something up since the boots are definitely darker than the picture, however, I just looked up ‘Burnished Brown’ and it appears to be a much darker brown than the boots that I have. Without being able to physically compare brown to tan boots I can’t say 100% that they didn’t mess up my order and give me ‘Burnished Brown,’ but I’m pretty sure the tan is just a bit darker than expected.

With that said, I like the color that I have, and think that it goes well with both the khakis or grey pants (Grey Slate Bonobos) that I most frequently wear with them. If I have time maybe I’ll add a couple more pictures with the bottoms of pants involved. Maybe one of the bottom, and a close up of the zipper as well. We’ll see…

Are these ‘Burnished Brown’ or ‘Burnished Tan’ as described via Timerland’s website? I am looking to this color but it has referenced to both descriptions at various locations… Thanks, great photos.

I’ve done a fair bit of hiking and I wouldn’t use these as hiking boots. For long walks they would be fine, but with a pack I’d be worried that they don’t have the support nor the durability.

Don’t get be wrong, they are well made and will last a long time as street boots, but they don’t have much padding (ankle support), or a thick sole, which you’d want for hiking. I’d also be worried about the zipper tearing out if you were wearing a pack.

Then again, I’ve been wrong from time to time, so if you get them let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the review, very nice photos. These have sold out everywhere (especially the tan)! I was starting to wonder if this style was available in the US… I guess the ad had its intended effect.

Before I go hunting down a pair online, what are your thoughts on how well these would double as real-deal hiking boots from time to time?
